The 2021 TeamMates Gala was a big success as approximately 1,200 TeamMates mentors, stakeholders and donors enjoyed hearing from special guests Alex Rodriguez, Warren Buffett, and Tom Osborne and celebrated the 30th anniversary of TeamMates Mentoring. Co-founders Tom and Nancy Osborne began TeamMates in 1991 when 22 Nebraska football players agreed to mentor 22 middle school students in Lincoln, Nebraska. Since then, TeamMates has served more than 43,000 youth with 184 chapters in five states.
The 2021 Gala was presented by Nebraska Crossing and held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Embassy Suites La Vista. Emcee Mike’l Severe led a lively live auction and introduced Nancy Osborne and her original TeamMates mentee Izzy Nichols. Aaron Davis led the distinguished panel discussion.
Approximately one-third of the TeamMates general operating costs were generated and just under $100,000 was raised through fun live and silent auctions, buy it now items, raise the paddle, and a raffle.
This year’s gala, presented by Nebraska Crossing, is scheduled for Friday, November 4th, 2022 at the Embassy Suites La Vista. TeamMates is proud to have amazing guests over the past 20 years, including Alex Rodriguez in November of 2021 for the 30th anniversary of TeamMates; Garth Brooks in 2016 for the 25th Anniversary in 2016, and “Larry the Cable Guy” for the 20th anniversary in 2011. Stay tuned to TeamMates.org for more information on this year’s Keynote speaker.
