Read moreWhat began in Lincoln has grown into something far greater than anyone could have imagined. Today, TeamMates is making a difference across six states—Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas, Wyoming, and Missouri—connecting mentors and mentees in communities of all sizes.
Over the past 35 years, more than 51,000 students have been served through the power of mentoring. Each match represents a meaningful relationship built on trust, encouragement, and the simple, consistent act of showing up.
At its core, TeamMates has always been about one thing: relationships. Mentors aren’t expected to have all the answers—they simply show up, spend time, and build genuine connections. In doing so, they help students feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving their goals. And the impact goes both ways. In fact, 92% of mentors report leaving their visits in a better mood than when they arrived.
As we celebrate 35 years, we’re not just reflecting on the past—we’re looking ahead. The need for mentors is as strong as ever. While there is so much to be proud of, there are still hundreds of students waiting for a mentor.
In honor of the legacy Dr. Tom and Nancy Osborne began in 1991, there’s never been a more important time to get involved. Make a difference today.
Join the Team. Be a Mentor.
